Pico laser technology is a non-surgical, non-invasive laser skin treatment that can be used to address the majority of common skin imperfections, including spots caused by sun damage and acne scarring.
Pico technology is regarded as one of the most advanced laser treatments currently available on the market. It delivers noticeable, permanent results in fewer sessions than comparable options and is safe, requires minimal downtime, and can be used across the entire face and body. Pico laser technology allows for the quick, effective, highly selective treatment of pigmented lesions and tattoos (in treatable colors). This laser also enhances elastin production in the skin, resulting in a softer, fuller, more youthful complexion.
The Pico laser works by sending ultra-short pulses of energy – without heat – to targeted problem areas. The laser’s impact on the skin is intense, shattering the problem skin pigment or particles. These are then eliminated naturally by the body.
The Pico laser is extremely precise, allowing the practitioner to achieve the optimal photomechanical effect. Although its pulses of energy are highly concentrated, the laser’s effect is gentle to the outer layer of the skin. Pico treatments do not burn the skin – patients typically experience very little or no discomfort during the course of their treatment.
Picosecond versus Nanosecond Laser Tattoo Removal:
1.Starnewtech Picosure lasers use PressureWave technology to shatter tattoo ink while nanosecond lasers rely only on photothermal action (heat). Pressure waves from picosecond lasers are more effective in shattering ink particles.
2.Starnewtech Picosure laser technology is more efficient in clearing cosmetic tattoos (multicolored tattoos, especially blue and green pigments) than nanosecond technology and other methods.
3.Starnewtech Picosure pulses are 100 times shorter in width than nanosecond pulses; hence they have a better impact and require fewer sessions.
4.Starnewtech Picosure pulses act faster (trillionths of a second) than nanosecond pulses.
5. Starnewtech Picosure technology allows a faster recovery time because there is less damage to the tissue surrounding the tattoo area, and minimizes the risk of scarring
Tattoo removal has never been easier. Picosure laser technology can eliminate a tattoo in 6 sessions or less. About 70% of our clients get remarkable results with only 3-4 sessions.
Pigmentation potential
We are not actually pushing the skin rejuvenation application at this stage with the pico. We are not not saying it doesn’t work, just that we haven’t got any evidence to suggest whether it is any better or any worse than existing options. “With acne scarring or skin rejuvenation, if you can get any disruption in the dermis to collagen that causes reversible damage, so your skin can repair itself, then there is some element of photorejuvenation or collagen remodelling. Certainly picosecond has the potential to be able to do that but we don’t think we have enough evidence for it.
Instead, a more interesting application for pico is pigmented lesions. Picosecond lasers are very well suited to targeting melanin so they might be a very good option for treating some pigmented lesions that couldn’t be treated well before – melasma for example. We haven’t done any work on that yet so we wouldn’t say you can use this for melasma but we would say this is an interesting area that needs further research and one in which picosecond might give some new advantages.
